For Elizabeth “Lizzy” Roberts, growing up in a low-income area of rural Alabama as the only child in a single-parent household proved to be challenge—not just for Lizzy, but for her mother as well.

Known as the fat kid for most of her life, Lizzy found her escape in books. She vowed that once she completed high school, she would move away from the restraints of her small town and the small-minded people there. She would build a successful career to make a better life for both her and her mom, but once Lizzy’s surroundings changed, so did Lizzy. Partying, drinking, and sex took the place of schoolwork. Although her choices disappoint her struggling mother, Lizzy gets a break when she is offered a nontraditional internship by her professor that can change her academic and money problems. Lizzy is intrigued with the offer…and hesitant.

Richard, Lizzy’s rich and arrogant classmate, has his sights set on conquering her, just as he has every other woman in his path. When Lizzy rejects Richard’s advances, it pushes him over the edge, and he creates a sinister plan to destroy her and everyone around her. He will stop at nothing to have her as his own.
